Dear Fabulous Ladies,

Did you have another stressful day that robbed you of your energy and completely drained you? Do you long for silence and time for yourself? Then just give yourself 10 minutes of Nadi Shodana – an Ayurvedic alternating breathing technique that cleanses your energy channels and thereby reduces stress and helps you to be able to think clearly again.

This breathing exercise also helps well against insomnia during menopause.

Sit comfortably in the lotus position – place a flat pillow under your butt so you sit more comfortably.

Fold the index and ring fingers of your right hand in so that you can close your nostrils with your thumb and ring finger.

First, breathe in and out once and then close your right nostril with your right thumb. Now inhale from the left and close the left nostril with the ring finger. Hold your breath for a moment and then open your right nostril to exhale.

In the same way, breathe in through the right nostril, close it, hold your breath again briefly, open the left nostril and breathe out again. Then take a left breath in and start over. You should end the exercise with the exhalation on the left nostril.

To help you stay in rhythm, count to four on the inhale, hold your breath for 2 seconds, and count to eight on the exhale.

The more often you repeat this exercise, the more likely it will help you to achieve the desired relaxation after a short time.

Yours, Tara
